Help! My Desktop Apps Have Disappeared – Can’t Open File Explorer

Hey everyone! So I was just working on a project in MS Word when my laptop suddenly crashed. When I restarted it, my desktop was completely blank. I can still use Google Chrome, MS Word, and Excel, but I can't access my files, including my resume and portfolio, which is super frustrating since I'm applying for jobs. The File Explorer won't open either! I've tried restarting my laptop three times and even contacted Microsoft, but nothing worked. I could really use your help! By the way, I have an Acer laptop running Windows 11, and there are no viruses detected.

You might want to try using Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open the Task Manager. From there, go to 'Run' and type 'explorer' to see if that helps. Also, a simple restart can sometimes fix these glitches.

If that doesn't work, Ctrl + Shift + Esc will take you right to Task Manager too!

Check the Event Viewer if you can. There might be an issue with DWM.exe crashing. If that's the case, you can try starting it manually. Usually, a reboot fixes these things, but if there's a deeper problem, that could be an indicator.
