I recently found out that my Gmail account was hacked, and a lot of things were changed without my knowledge: my phone number and backup email were switched, my password was changed, and they even set up Google Authenticator with backup codes. I tried to access my backup email account, but I can't remember the password. When I attempted to reset it, a menu pops up and I'm feeling stuck. As a secondary school student, I really need this email for important information, like a possible acceptance letter. Any advice on what I can do?

Only Google can help with account recovery, but it's true that they might not be able to do much in cases like this. It's frustrating, but they have strict policies. Make sure to secure any other accounts you have and consider using a password manager to keep track of your passwords more easily in the future.
It sounds like a tough situation, but recovering a hacked account can be really hard. Unfortunately, if someone has taken control of it and changed the login info, it might be difficult to get it back. Your best bet is to contact Google's support for assistance, but be prepared that they might not be able to help. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to create a new account and set up two-factor authentication to protect yourself in the future.
