I've recently started burning my own CDs using some old stock of Verbatim CD-Rs (700MB, 52x speed, 80 min) that belonged to my dad, and they worked perfectly fine. However, I've run out of those and just bought a new pack from Walmart that looks identical. Now, when I try to burn songs onto them, the CD players I use just say '01' with no sound. I've tested them on two different players, but no luck.

Are you sure you picked up CD-Rs and not CD+Rs? They're different, you know. Just a thought!
The pack definitely says CD-R, so I'm good on that front.
You might have accidentally burned the CD as a data disc instead of an audio disc. This could be why it's only working in certain players. Try popping it into your computer to see what shows up in the File Explorer. If it just lists your music files, then that's likely your issue. Also, for your friend's computer, check the 'Show more options' menu; the burn option might be hidden there, especially on Windows 11.
I hope you're joking about that! Just to clarify, CD+R doesn't exist like it does for DVDs. Just be aware of CD-RW though, some players might struggle with those.
