Is My RTX 5070 Ti Bottlenecked by My i5-13400F?

Hey everyone! I just upgraded from an RTX 4060 Ti to a 5070 Ti for gaming at 1440p with high to max settings. However, I'm still using an i5-13400F, and I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, so I can't upgrade my CPU for a few months. I'm concerned about whether this setup will bottleneck my gaming experience in titles like Cyberpunk, RDR2, and Ghost of Tsushima. Additionally, I also play competitive games and am currently using DDR4 with a B760 motherboard. I'm planning a complete upgrade to AM5 later, possibly with a B850 or X670, but I wonder: should I upgrade to an i7-14700F first when I get the chance, or would it be better to wait and do a full upgrade later? I'd appreciate any advice, especially from those in similar situations!

To see if you're really bottlenecked, run a game on max settings and monitor your GPU and CPU usage. If your GPU is hitting 100% while your CPU is under 100%, you're probably fine. But if your CPU is maxed out and the GPU isn't, then yes, you have a bottleneck and should consider upgrading the CPU next.

Does it matter if only one core is at 100%? I heard some games don't utilize all cores, so would that still show a false reading?

Honestly, just give it a try! You have the hardware, so play a few games and see how it handles. That’s the best way to figure it out!

You might be more bottlenecked by the DDR4 RAM than by your CPU. Just something to consider when you're planning upgrades in the future.

If you're struggling to max out graphics on Ultra settings, it sounds like your CPU can't keep up in sending the necessary data to your GPU, which indicates a bottleneck.
