How Are Prospect Databases Created by SaaS Companies?

I'm curious about how companies like Clay, Instantly, Apollo, and Juicebox gather their data for prospect databases. Is it mainly due to scraping LinkedIn profiles, and if so, how do they manage to scrape so many profiles without getting caught?

It's not just one big source for this data. A lot of it comes from LinkedIn, where they use bot farms with fake profiles to scrape info. It’s a total cat-and-mouse game to avoid getting banned. They also buy data from other providers and scrape info from company websites, then use algorithms to create comprehensive profiles from the data they gather.

There are tons of sources out there for collecting contact info. These services usually tap into the same sources, scrape the data, and then sell it. It's pretty wild how much information is available if you know where to look.

These companies typically use a mix of public web data, paid datasets, enrichment APIs, and insights from users themselves. Just so you know, scraping LinkedIn on a large scale is tricky because it goes against their terms of service, so they have to be careful with that stuff.

Actually, these tools offer data from all over the world, not just North America. It might just be more comprehensive for that region, but they do cover global data.
