Can I Use a USB Extension Cable to Power My Speakers?

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem with my monitor because it doesn't have internal speakers. It only has an audio jack in the back. I found some speakers that connect through the audio jack but need to be powered by USB. I'm considering getting a one-meter USB extension cable to plug it into a wall outlet while the audio jack goes into the monitor. Can this work? Just wanted to check before I order anything. Thanks!

Yes, you can use the extension, but be sure the wattage from your wall adapter meets the speaker's needs. If the output isn’t enough, the speakers might not perform well or could cause issues.

You can definitely use a USB extension cable to power your speakers, but make sure you have a proper power adapter for the USB side. I suggest checking the speaker specs to ensure they won't draw too much power. Also, if you have a USB port on your PC, you could just plug it directly into there instead of going through the wall.

I've got a USB adapter for the wall, so that's covered. The speakers I chose are not Bluetooth since neither my monitor nor PlayStation supports it, which is a bummer.

It might work, but you'll need to know if your speakers are active or passive. Active speakers usually need consistent power from a wall outlet for good sound quality, while passive ones don’t usually need that. Are you after good sound or just getting something to work?

Sure thing! Just make sure the power requirements for the speakers match what your USB adapter can provide. That way, you'll have a solid sound without issues.
