I have an old Dell Latitude D630 with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and currently just 2GB of RAM. It used to run Windows 7, but I'm looking for a suitable Linux distro that won't require me to upgrade the hardware. I've heard about Xfce but I'm unsure if that's the best option for my setup. What do you all suggest?

Linux Mint Debian Edition is a good route to consider. It's user-friendly and can be quite light on resources, which suits your RAM situation well.
Q4OS is another option I recommend. I’ve run it on an even older netbook with 2GB of RAM and it worked smoothly. It has a Windows-like feel which might help if you're coming from that environment.
Sounds interesting! I’ll check out Q4OS since I want something familiar.
Xfce is actually a desktop environment, not a distro itself. If you're looking for lightweight options, check out various distros like BunsenLabs or Puppy Linux. They're noted for their low resource usage and can really breathe new life into older machines!
Thanks for the clarification! I'm still learning about this stuff and will definitely explore those options.
BunsenLabs has worked wonders for my old setup. It's lightweight and feels quite smooth.
You might want to try Puppy Linux, especially the Fossapup64 version. It's super light and runs great even on older hardware. Just keep in mind, streaming HD videos might not work well due to the age of the machine.
I've heard good things about Puppy. Gonna give it a shot!
That sounds promising! I'll try it out.
