I'm in a bit of a crisis! I've been working on a PowerPoint slideshow for a recap of a book series I loved as a kid. After putting in around eight hours of work today and saving my progress, I realized I wanted to add an extra detail before heading to bed. When I reopened the file, I found only my first autosave from earlier, featuring just 60 slides! The version I was working on had over 100 slides. I've checked everywhere for a different file name and even tried resetting my OneDrive to recover a previous version, but no luck. It says it's successfully recovered some files but they don't seem to work. I'm using a PC laptop with PowerPoint 2019 connected to OneDrive. Is there any hope of recovering my lost work, or should I just accept my loss?

It might help to see if you accidentally saved the file somewhere else or changed its name. That could be why you're not finding it among your recent files!
You should check if version history is available through OneDrive. Just log into the OneDrive website, find the folder where your PowerPoint is saved, right-click on the file, and select "Version history." You might be able to find earlier versions from today or the days before that!
Thanks for the tip! I tried that, but it only shows dates from mid-July, which is odd since I've worked on it since then.
