I'm transitioning my gaming PC over to Linux and need some guidance! My setup includes a 1080ti, an i7-7700k, and 32GB of RAM. I haven't used Linux in over 17 years since I switched back to Windows for gaming convenience. Now, I want to minimize my digital footprint and improve security as Windows 10 is being phased out. I'm looking for stable Linux distros that work well with Nvidia drivers, especially for gaming and basic office tasks. I'm considering Fedora, Bazzite, Nobara, and Pika, but am open to suggestions. What distros are recommended, and are there any to avoid for someone with a moderate understanding of tech?

MX Linux handles Nvidia support really well. After installation, you’ll find options in the menu for installing the drivers seamlessly.
You'll definitely want the proprietary Nvidia drivers for your 1080ti. The open-source *nouveau* driver will give you basic 2D support, but for gaming, you'll need the proper "nvidia-drivers". Make sure to install them through your distro's package manager rather than downloading from Nvidia’s website to ensure smooth updates.
For both work and gaming, I recommend checking these out: 1. GLF OS (a newer project worth exploring), 2. Nobara, 3. Pop OS. Pika is solid too, and Drauger is reliable as well.
Thank you very much!
Pop OS is a fantastic choice for Nvidia GPUs. It's user-friendly and optimized for gaming, plus it makes installing drivers a breeze.
Thank you!
