Struggling with Unexpected AWS Bills – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind with my AWS billing. I've received 12 inflated bills all at once, which cover the last 11 months, and they were generated on the same day (11 August 2025). The amounts on these bills are over double what I usually pay, and in fact, they are three times my regular charges. My card has been linked correctly, so I expected to receive bills monthly as per usual. Now, I'm overwhelmed with a huge amount due and haven't received a clear explanation from the AWS support team despite raising a ticket. They've not elaborated on why the bills weren't issued monthly. I'd greatly appreciate any guidance on how to deal with this situation. Thanks!

This sounds like a retroactive fix situation. AWS can review and adjust bills at any time, which might be why you're seeing those charges now. They might have identified undercharging issues. In my experience, these kinds of spikes usually show up as corrected bills. Have they told you the reason for the increase yet?

No, they haven't provided an explanation. I only found out about it after raising a concern about some suspicious usage in my S3 bucket. It feels like something isn't right on their end.

I’m really sorry to hear about your billing issues. It’s frustrating when these things happen. Make sure to keep following up with AWS support. If you share your case ID with them, like it seems you’re already doing, that should help them look into your situation more clearly. Sometimes just staying persistent can lead to better support.

Thanks for the advice! I've shared my case ID and I'm hoping for a response soon.
