I'm searching for a user-friendly solution to help me write a book and manage a website at the same time. I'm hoping for a local text editor that allows for hierarchical notes, lets me easily drag and drop images, and enables simple page layouts. Additionally, it should have the capability to upload pages directly to my web server. I'm looking for a customizable website template for reading my story, which should include a synced table of contents based on the names and hierarchy of my notes. I have a long-term chronological story to tell, so I'd like something that works well. Have you got any suggestions? Thanks!

I use Obsidian with Obsidian Git and Quartz, and it's been pretty effective for me! You can check out what I've done at my site. It’s a good mix for managing notes and getting them online.
Have you considered using Obsidian along with Obsidian Publish? It's a powerful combo that might suit your needs pretty well!
I don’t think Obsidian supports hierarchical notes, which is a bit of a drawback for me.
Thanks for the tip! I had looked into Quartz but decided against it due to the lack of hierarchical notes. I don’t want to start numbering my notes to keep them organized.
