I've just moved into a shared office space where there will be multiple people working in the same room. I'm on the hunt for a pair of headphones (not earbuds) that have effective active noise cancellation. It's crucial for me to be able to take calls without my background noise distracting the person on the other end. I'm looking for headphones that can:
1. Completely cancel background noise for me, and
2. Minimize any noise that the person on the other end hears.
I don't have a preference for wired or wireless, and budget isn't an issue here!

I recommend the Jabra Evolve2 85. It's a bit pricey, but the mic is excellent and isolates your voice pretty well during calls. The noise-canceling feature isn’t perfect compared to cheaper models, though, so just keep that in mind. However, the flexibility with connectivity options like USB-C, Bluetooth, and dongle is a big plus. I wear mine for several hours daily, and they’re pretty comfortable for me!
Considering noise cancellation and mic quality, I’ve found that Bose headphones are a solid choice. The QuietComfort series offers good sound and ANC, although they have some quirks with multiple Bluetooth connections. That said, the comfort level is excellent for long wear! Just make sure you’re aware that no set will eliminate all surrounding noise completely.
Yeah, I've had the Bose QC lineup and they're comfy! Just don't expect them to block *everything* out, especially with voices around you.
Don’t forget about the Sony WH-1000XM5s! They have good noise canceling and decent mic quality. Just a bummer that there aren't many wired options available with noise cancellation right now!
For the best experience, you should definitely check out the BlueParrott S650-XT. It's a total game changer! These can handle incredibly noisy environments; I've used them near running airplanes and construction sites, and the people I'm talking to had no idea about the chaos around me. Seriously, I’m so happy with how well they work that I bought a couple for friends who were tired of struggling with their basic Bluetooth headphones.
If you're leaning towards something more portable, my Apple AirPods Max have been fantastic. The ANC is great, and the mic quality is top-notch for calls! They integrate perfectly with all my devices, making it easy to switch between Zoom and Teams. Just a heads up—my experience is more aligned with Apple products!
I can totally back you up on that! I've also enjoyed my Jabra headset, and it even comes with a charging stand. Works great for calls and has decent sound for music too!
