I'm in a bit of a bind with my mom's old PC that hasn't been turned on in over five years. It's been sitting in her garage, and now she needs the data off it before we sell or dispose of it. When I plugged it in, I got a beep code indicating a Processor Failure. I've tried draining the battery like I did with my own issue, but that didn't help. Now, I've read that I might need to update the BIOS, but to do that, I need the motherboard number. The problem is, I'm really unfamiliar with computers and can't figure out how to locate the motherboard number visually. I thought I knew where to look, but the info online is confusing with all those numbers and letters. Since we can't afford to take it to a professional, I'm hoping someone here can guide me on how to find the motherboard number without having the PC fully operational.

You don't actually need the PC to be on to get the data off it! Just grab an external HDD case to connect the hard drive to your USB port. Super simple, and it'll allow you to access everything on there without needing the old PC to work. Good luck!
