Why Isn’t Linux Getting More Attention?

I've been a lifelong Windows user and even tried Ubuntu back in 2008, but I found it clunky and buggy. After using a Mac for a while and not being impressed due to high software costs and a lack of great games, I decided to give Linux another shot last month. I installed the latest version of Ubuntu and thought it looked fantastic! My only concern is the lack of gaming support, but with Steam around, I'm seriously considering moving away from Windows. I'm excited to dive deeper into Linux but I can't seem to find any beginner-friendly YouTube channels. Can anyone help me out with some recommendations?

Check out The Linux Experiment and Michael Horn! They have some great beginner-friendly videos that'll help you get started with Linux.

Sounds promising! Got any favorite videos from them?

I think the lack of talk about Linux is partly due to Microsoft and hardware manufacturers. They want to keep people tied to Windows, especially with new PC builds being pushed for Windows 11, which is driving users towards new systems instead of sticking with older, reliable hardware that can run Linux just fine.

Claude and GPT can be really useful too, but just be cautious when using the terminal. LLMs sometimes get a bit too detailed. Always ask them to explain commands before running them to understand what you're doing.

That's a good tip! Google everything first to make sure you understand the commands.

There's also a resources page on the Linux4Noobs wiki that might be helpful. Don't forget to backup your data, test changes in a VM first, and really know what every command does before you hit Enter!

I actually disagree about not finding noob-friendly channels. You should definitely check out Learn Linux TV. They have a ton of useful content that's great for beginners!
