Is It Really Hard to Cast from My Windows Laptop to My Google TCL TV?

I'm trying to figure out how to cast from my Windows laptop to my 2025 Google TCL TV, but I feel like I've hit a wall. I've been searching for hours for a clear answer and it's just so confusing! I'm hoping to watch movies on my TV while still being able to work on my laptop without interrupting the video or audio. I've already made sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and my TCL TV supports Airplay. I've tried using Windows + K, but my TV doesn't show up, even though my neighbor's Samsung TV does. I've heard that Miracast isn't a thing on these TVs anymore and I'm worried about buying a Google Chromecast dongle since it's pretty expensive. Any tips or tricks?

Have you thought about just running an HDMI cable? That's usually the simplest way to connect without any streaming issues.

Unfortunately, my laptop doesn’t have an HDMI port, so that’s not an option for me.

Have you checked if your TV appears when you follow the casting steps in Google Chrome? Sometimes there are settings you might have overlooked.

Make sure you're using Chrome to cast. After connecting to Wi-Fi, just open the browser, click on the cast option, and choose to cast your whole screen. It usually works pretty well!

I’ve got the TCL Google TV, but when I try to cast, it doesn’t show up in the options, even though I'm on the same network.

Just a heads-up, AirPlay is mainly for Apple devices. But you can try Windows wireless projection—it's been successful for me with my LG TV. You should look into how to do that!

I get that AirPlay is for Apple. I was actually asking about alternatives for Windows. What exactly is Windows Wireless Projection?

If you're in the U.S., check out the Onn Google TV dongle at Walmart for about $40. It can act as a streaming client, which might help you out!
