What Happens to Basic Load Balancers and Public IPs After September 30th?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out what's actually going to happen to basic load balancers and public IP addresses after September 30 if we don't migrate them. Will they just stop working, get deleted, or will they function but be left unsupported? I know Microsoft recommends migrating, but I'm curious about the real consequences after this date.

Actually, they've pushed the deprecation date to February 2026, and a migration tool is coming out next month that supposedly makes the switch in about 10 minutes! Just keep in mind this is mainly for basic IPs on VPN gateways.

Good to know, thanks for the update!

You probably want to avoid finding out the hard way! Seriously, I wouldn’t risk it.

I think they should still work since there's a provision for Cloud Services that keeps them supported until those are retired. Just be careful if you’re using them alongside other services; there’s always a risk of something breaking! So, weigh your options before deciding not to migrate.

Definitely evaluate the risks. It’s better to be safe!

Isn’t this just a sneaky way to increase prices?

According to Microsoft, you can’t create new Basic Load Balancers after March 31, 2025, but existing ones will keep working. It’s best to upgrade now; I did mine in just five minutes!
