Help! My Laptop Won’t Start After a Crash

I've been using my laptop for five years without any major issues, but recently I experienced a couple of crashes while downloading a game and extracting files. After forcing a restart, I got an error message saying my device needs to be repaired. I tried to reinstall Windows using a bootable USB, but I ran into a blue screen error (system service exception) when I attempted to install it. I also tried running the Windows memory diagnostic tool, but that didn't work either. Now I'm at a point where my laptop seems completely non-functional. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what to do next!

Have you tried checking the Event Viewer for any red error marks related to your hard drive? It could provide more insight into what's going wrong.

If it’s possible, you can try removing the battery (if you're using a laptop) and unplugging it for a bit, then rebooting. This can sometimes reset things and help clear out issues. But honestly, with repeated crashes under load, I would suspect the SSD is failing.

That sounds like a good idea! Sometimes just resetting everything can help.

If you can get into BIOS, you might want to check the temps and voltage levels. Abnormal readings could indicate a failing CPU or another component. In my experience, if it's not booting into BIOS at all, then it could be your hard drive or RAM doing the dirty work.

It sounds like the drive might be dead, especially since you’ve experienced crashes during heavy usage. It could also be due to a recent Windows update that didn’t go well. Have you checked if your SSD is still operational?

Yeah, I’d definitely look into the SSD being the issue. If it keeps crashing during downloads and extractions, that's a strong sign.
