What Skills Should a Developer Have for a Custom Scheduling App?

I'm working with a ministry and we have a website at swosucatholic.org powered by eCatholic. While we love what we have, I want to make it more functional for our daily operations. I'm looking to build a custom application that could integrate with our site and help us manage scheduling for various activities like Bible studies and prayer groups. Here's what I'm hoping to find:

1. I'd like users to register for studies with their email, name, and phone number, plus manage studies easily.
2. The app should feature a grid layout showing days and times, where users can click cells to indicate their availability.
3. I want to review and edit registrant responses if needed.
4. A critical feature is creating groups and seeing participants' availabilities, allowing for group scheduling.
5. I need to track attendance throughout the semester.
6. I'd like to assign roles, like group leader positions, as well.

Given these requirements, what developer skills should I look for, and what's the price range I should expect?

It sounds like you want to start fresh with a new application instead of tweaking your current scheduler. Given your detailed needs, hiring a full-stack developer for about 6 to 12 months sounds right, especially since they’ll need to build it from scratch. You might also want to find agencies that offer continued support after building it, just to keep everything running smoothly.

You’re on the right track looking for a full-stack developer! It might not be as complex as you think, but the timeline can vary. I built a similar scheduler in about 6 weeks, but integrating it as a plugin for eCatholic could take longer since not all developers are familiar with that platform. Have you considered hosting the app separately and linking it to your main site? That could make things smoother!
