I'm considering making the switch to Linux since Windows 10 is being phased out. However, I have concerns about the random power outages happening in my city. I want to know if these outages could negatively impact my Linux system, especially since I can easily restart my PC and complete updates on Windows 10 after a power cut. Will my Linux system potentially crash if that happens? I'm also thinking about trying Debian for this transition.

You shouldn't have any significant issues unless you're in the middle of an update. Most Linux systems can handle sudden power failures just fine. I suggest using timeshift snapshots to easily revert to a stable state, similar to Windows restore points.
I mainly use laptops, and I deal with frequent power outages too. I've had my Mac Mini shut down unexpectedly while using Linux, but it was no problem at all. Just ensure you have Linux alternatives for any Windows software you depend on, or use Wine if necessary for running Windows programs.
It should be pretty much the same experience as with Windows in terms of handling power cuts. If you're new to Linux, I've seen many recommend Linux Mint over Debian for a smoother experience.
I've had to hard boot my mini PC a few times while tweaking Linux settings, and honestly, you should be okay. Just make sure to unmount any external drives before a cut, but overall, power cuts shouldn't cause major issues. Just keep in mind they could affect your hardware over time.
Can I run IDM through Wine? I really love that program and don’t want to switch to something else.
