Is Cloudways a Good Option for Hosting My LAMP Project?

I use Cloudways to host simple websites, and it's been okay for that. However, if you're aiming to run a more complex web application, their framework support can be quite limiting. Personally, I've been happier using Vercel for more intensive web apps, though that's not LAMP-based.

I've been using Cloudways for a while, and while it's not terrible, it has been getting worse over time. Their tech support is solid, but customer service has taken a hit. If you do switch, be cautious with the Rackspace email add-on; there have been some major email deliverability issues that took months to resolve, which is pretty concerning for something as critical as email.

Honestly, I tried Cloudways and ended up leaving. The aggressive marketing was a turn-off, plus their pricing model is frustrating. You'll pay a lot for managed services compared to what you'd get directly from a provider without them. I also found their management tools confusing and had a tough time changing my billing info. Overall, it felt like they were more focused on upselling than providing good service.

One thing to keep in mind is that you won't have root access with Cloudways, which could be a dealbreaker depending on what you’re planning to do with your project.
