Need Help Setting Up My Docking Station for WFH

Hey everyone! I'm new to working from home and could really use some help. I've got a setup that includes two Dell monitors (model E2425HSMf), an HP G5 USB-C docking station, and an HP Zbook Firefly G10 laptop, along with all the necessary chargers and an Ethernet cable. I recently upgraded my internet with an Xfinity Xb7 modem at 1200mbps, and while my laptop's Wi-Fi is great, I can't get everything else to work with the docking station. I bought a flat Jadaol Cat6a Ethernet cable (100ft) to avoid drilling since I'm renting, but it seems like it doesn't send internet to the dock at all. Here are my questions: 1) How can I check if the docking station is working? It has a white light at the charger plug – does that mean it's functioning? 2) Is there any issue with the length of my Ethernet cable? 3) Can my modem handle a 10gbps Ethernet cable? 4) What steps can I take to troubleshoot this? Sorry if these are silly questions, but I've spent days searching for help and even reached out to HP support and my company's IT team for assistance!

It sounds like you might need to install the dock's Ethernet driver on your laptop. Check the HP website for that. I had to do it a lot at work for the dock to work right. After that, updating the dock's firmware could help too!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll handle that first thing tomorrow. I just have to be careful with the timing because of HIPAA stuff, but I’ll let you know how it goes!
