Is Linux a Good Choice for Gaming and Video Editing?

I'm really interested in switching to Linux to escape the issues I have with Microsoft, like privacy concerns and potential spyware. I do a lot of gaming with an Nvidia RTX 5090 and I also heavily video edit using Filmora 14 and DaVinci Resolve. I'm wondering if Linux is still a good choice for someone with my setup and how I should go about picking a distribution to install. Should I dive in completely or test it out first?

If you're into gaming and rely on anti-cheat systems, sticking with Windows might be safer. Many games just don’t work well on Linux due to these restrictions.

A solid approach would be to grab a spare SSD and try out a couple of distributions without messing with your main Windows setup. Distributions like Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, Ubuntu, or Fedora are great starting points. I personally recommend Fedora; it has been smooth for me. Just don’t overthink it—most of them will do the job just fine!

Yeah, trying it out on a spare drive is a smart move!
