I'm in my 30s and not very tech-savvy, so I'm hoping for some advice on improving my home internet situation. I live in an 1100 sqft single-story house and currently have Comcast. Even with a higher-tier plan, the internet is really slow and barely reaches all parts of my home. I've tried adding boosters, which helped a bit, but I'm still facing speed issues. My wife and I use the internet heavily for work, schoolwork, streaming, and gaming, but my PS5 lags frequently, and game updates can take around 10 hours! The router is in my wife's office at the back of the house, which might be part of the problem, but moving it to the center causes issues for her. I contacted Comcast to check the connection, and while they adjusted a few settings, I didn't notice any improvement. They mentioned that gaming consumes a lot of bandwidth, but I know there are professional gamers in bigger homes who manage just fine. What should I invest in to get faster and more reliable internet speeds?

If you’re looking for faster upload speeds, consider switching to a fiber optic service like Verizon Fios if it's available in your area. Comcast can be great for downloads but is usually lacking in upload speed. You should also check broadband comparison tools by inputting your zip code to see potential options. Fiber is often much better for gaming and heavy internet use overall. Just make sure to find a provider that offers good specs in your area!
Before switching providers, try testing your internet speed. Connect directly with an Ethernet cable rather than using the boosters and see what speeds you're actually getting compared to what you’re paying for. This might help diagnose if there are any other issues at play, like a faulty router or connection problems, rather than just blaming the provider.

That makes sense! It’s frustrating because Comcast is supposed to be the top provider, but it seems to have issues for many. I’d definitely look into fiber if it's an option.
