Hey everyone! I just got a new laptop that runs Windows 11, but I'm having trouble with my Microsoft account and I'm thinking about switching to Linux. However, I don't have any experience with it at all. My laptop has an 11th gen Intel Core processor and is a 64-bit system. It's a ThinkPad—does that make a difference? Any guidance would be appreciated!

If your main issue is the Microsoft account, you could easily bypass that requirement. You might also want to check out tools like Rufus to create a bootable USB for your Linux installation.
ThinkPads are actually great for running Linux! I’d recommend going for a lightweight version since it doesn't seem like a gaming setup. Debian is stable and user-friendly, and if you’re looking for something easier, Linux Mint might be the way to go. You can make it run smoothly with a lightweight desktop environment like XFCE.
Before making any changes, do you know why you can't use your Microsoft account anymore? That might help clarify whether switching to Linux is necessary.
