Hey everyone! I'm working on some digital preservation projects and need a straightforward video editor that won't bog down my system with complex features. My main requirements are pretty basic: I want to be able to extract audio from video files, replace existing audio, add captions or subtitles, and fix any audio sync issues. If you have suggestions for any apps—whether they're open source or paid, simple or with a few added features—I'd really appreciate it!

Kdenlive is another great option to consider. It's versatile for various editing tasks and should suit your needs pretty well.

Have you tried MKVtoolnix? It might not be a full-fledged editor, but it can help with some of the audio extraction tasks you're looking for.
