I discovered a Samsung 1.5TB HDD from 2009 while cleaning out my parents' basement. I bought a USB to SATA connector to access it, but it seems like the drive isn't getting any power. The cable has a blue light indicating access but a red light for power, which suggests it's not receiving power. How can I fix this issue?

It sounds like your adapter might be the issue. If it doesn't have a separate power supply and relies solely on USB, it probably doesn't provide enough power for a 3.5" HDD. Those drives typically need a 12v power supply, which USB can't deliver on its own.
You'll need an adapter that includes a power adapter to plug into the wall. Most 3.5" HDDs won't work just with USB power alone, so keep an eye out for one that meets this requirement.
Are you planning to connect this HDD to a laptop? If so, make sure your laptop supports 3.5" drives. If you're using a desktop that's a bit newer with SATA connectors for both the hard drive and a CD/DVD drive, you might be able to unplug the CD and use that connection instead. Alternatively, check out options on Amazon for powered adapters.
