I've got a perplexing issue with a video file I downloaded for work. The file says it's over an hour long when I check in VLC, but when I try to play it, it only runs for about eight minutes. The timeline displays the correct total time initially, but then it jumps down to around six minutes midway. What's going on with this file?

It sounds like the file might be corrupted. Have you checked how large the file is and what its bitrate is? That could give you some clues!
