Should I Choose the Ryzen 9 9950X3D or the 9800X3D for Gaming and Creative Work?

Hey everyone! I'm considering getting the Ryzen 9 9950X3D but I'm unsure if it's the right choice for me. My main activities involve gaming (about 50% of the time), watching YouTube, anime, movies, browsing the web, using Discord, doing some Photoshop work, and playing around with AI applications.

Would I be better off with the 9800X3D instead? I've heard some things about issues with the core packing in the 9950X3D and I'm not really interested in tweaking anything. I just want to install the CPU and have it work properly out of the box. Do I need to do any special preparations or research for the 9950X3D, or will it work seamlessly? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, you don't really need the 9950X3D for what you're planning to do. The 9800X3D would be a better fit and it's actually faster for gaming.

I get what you're saying, but with technology advancing, will the 8 cores of the 9800X3D still hold up in 2025? Feels like it's kind of future-proofing.

I'd recommend going for the 9800X3D. Your usage doesn’t need the extra cores from the 9950X3D, and you'll save some cash in the process.

I know what you mean! The thought of only 8 cores feels a bit limiting as we look ahead.
