Hey everyone, I'm having some strange problems with my PC and could really use your insights. I built my machine about a year ago with a Ryzen 7 9700x and a 7800XT. The PSU I'm using is an EVGA Supernova 850 P2 80 Plus Platinum, which I purchased back in 2017.
Lately, I've been experiencing intermittent bluescreens, most commonly showing 'Driver power state failure' during boot. Fortunately, that seemed to settle down for a bit. However, just today, while I was using my PC, my Bluetooth devices disconnected out of nowhere. Shortly after, I got a black error screen indicating 'Driver Power State Failure' again.
Windows shut down the PC, but it wouldn't reboot. When I tried to turn it back on, the components lit up briefly—like my AIO, RAM, and GPU—but then everything went dead except for the RGB lights on the motherboard. It wouldn't respond to the power button until I completely power cycled the PSU.
I also tried disconnecting everything except for one RAM stick, but it just kept trying to turn on repeatedly with the AIO pump and motherboard diagnostic LEDs flickering on and off. I suspect it might be a faulty PSU because I'm hearing clicking sounds from it, almost like the overcurrent protection is triggering. When I disable eco mode, the PSU fan runs continuously, and the RGB lights on the motherboard stay on, which I think is just residual power.

It sounds like a frustrating situation! Generally, 'Driver Power State Failure' isn't usually a power supply issue. It often relates to how a device is managing power requests. When you disconnected components, did you also pull the ATX and CPU power connectors? It’d be good to see if it boots normally without those connected. While it could be the PSU, many sources suggest it might be a driver issue—possibly linked to the Bluetooth. Have you tried disabling Bluetooth in the BIOS if that option is available?
