I'm watching a movie on my Sony DVD player that's connected to my Sony TV. The film is playing in 1080p through HDMI, but there are black borders around the picture, making it look like the aspect ratio isn't right. Any suggestions on how to remove those borders?

It sounds like your TV might be displaying the DVD at its native resolution, which could cause borders if it doesn't match the screen size. Check your TV's input settings for an option like 'fit-to-screen' or 'zoom' that could allow the picture to fill the display.

I noticed you have a Bravia KDL-37V5500. Sometimes, the DVD player settings get set to 4:3, which leads to letterboxing when you try to watch 16:9 content. Make sure to set it to 16:9 in the DVD player's settings.
