I'm putting together a small form factor PC and need a bit of clearance to fit my SSD in the original position. I'm considering trimming the GPU backplate but worried about whether this action would void the warranty. I could always rely on home insurance if necessary, but I'd like to know if I could still handle an RMA under these circumstances. The backplate on my MSI Ventus 2x 4070 Ti Super can't be removed easily since it's attached to the PCB as well.

Trimming doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but who knows? It’s not like you’re cutting into the chassis, more like just altering the bumper, right? Anyway, just a heads up that it might not be as straightforward as you think. Good luck figuring out another spot for your SSD!
Yeah, it probably would void your warranty. Just think about it: it’s a permanent change that could be considered damaging, even if it seems minor. Better to stay safe and explore other mounting options for that SSD!
Trimming the backplate is pretty risky. Imagine if you bought a car that came with a warranty, and then you cut into the chassis for modification. Would the dealer take that back? I doubt it! Even if it doesn’t affect how the GPU works, it gives the customer service team an easy way to deny your warranty claim if they see any modifications. It might not be a legal issue, but you'd probably have a tough time getting them to honor it after that.
