I'm thinking about dual booting Windows and Linux but I need a user-friendly distro that's great for someone with limited experience. I'd really appreciate a distribution that has a decent graphical interface and simple documentation. I want to play some casual old games but I'm trying to reduce my time in Windows. It's been over 20 years since I last used Linux—back in the days of Knoppix 3.x!

I went from Linux Mint to Arch, which was quite a leap! Mint is great for beginners, though all distros have their strengths. Just keep your important files backed up and don’t be afraid to try out different distros as you get comfortable!
I recently picked Bazzite for similar reasons, and it's been running smoothly for me. It's great for beginners like us!
If you're into gaming, Ubuntu might be a good pick since Proton works well with Ubuntu-based distros. Otherwise, Linux Mint gives you a familiar Windows feel, which might be easier as you start out.
Yeah, I totally agree! Mint is friendly for new users. Just don’t hesitate to switch later if you want to explore more options.
For older machines, Lubuntu LTS is the way to go if you have 8GB or less of RAM. Otherwise, go for Kubuntu LTS. And honestly, if you can add a second SSD, it’ll make the installation process so much easier!
Fedora, Mint, or Kubuntu are all solid choices. You really can’t go wrong with any of them!

Good point about backups! It's always smart to keep your files safe while experimenting.
