Looking for the Best Blogging Platform for a Design-Focused Project

Hey everyone! I'm a graphic designer with a love for modern design elements like typography, UI/UX, and bold layouts. I'm planning to launch a personal blog or a curated site to showcase stunning graphic design, typography, and creative web work—think minimalistic yet striking, similar to bno.nl.

I've created a few WordPress sites in the past, but for this project, I want something extremely clean and scalable. I'm stuck deciding whether I should stick with WordPress (maybe using a headless approach with Next.js) or try alternatives like Sanity.io with Next.js, Webflow, or something else entirely.

Since this is a hobby project, I'm up for building it myself but understand it might be wise to get a developer involved for a solid foundation. My main priorities include modern custom UI, great performance and scalability, easy content management for frequent updates, and future-proofing for features like newsletters or community options. Any advice on tech stacks, CMS options, or workflow tips would be really appreciated! Thanks!

You might want to consider platforms like blot.im or bearblog.dev. They let you customize the CSS and templates while providing an easy setup process. Bear is solid, but I'm not sure if it meets all your needs. Blot is more flexible and you can build your template from scratch. It's worth looking into these options!

If your primary goal is to keep maintenance low, I'd recommend using a simple platform. I mostly build static sites now, and while I like Jekyll, there are plenty of other options out there. WordPress works too, but it does come with its own maintenance hurdles. Just figure out what works best for you without becoming a headache!

You're so right—I want this blog to be fun, not a job! I’m leaning towards WordPress because I find it quick to set up. Any theme suggestions that stay modern and make management easy? Would something like Astra or Kadence work, or is there a better option?
