I'm considering upgrading my Ryzen 5 5600X, but I'm hesitant about the prices for the 5700X3D and 5800X3D, which feel a bit steep. For some context, my PC has an RTX 4070, and I've noticed that many of the games I play lately, like BF6 and Arc Raiders, are CPU-bound. My current setup includes 16GB of budget DDR4 RAM. The 5700X3D is listed for $365 on Newegg, while the 5800X3D is going for $540 or $430 if I opt for an open box. I'm debating whether it would be a better investment to buy an AM5 CPU and motherboard combo, even though that would also mean purchasing pricey DDR5 RAM. Looking for some advice on the best path forward!

I'd hold off on buying right now if you can. Prices for the next-gen hardware should normalize soon. Sure, the 5800X3D may offer solid performance, but going with an AM5 setup could future-proof you better since you would have more upgrade options down the line. A lot of people recently snagged a B650 and a 7800X3D with 32GB of DDR5 for around $600—great bang for your buck!

Totally agree! Just keep in mind that while some prices are decent, RAM is still quite high right now. Other components seem to be leveling out, though.
