I'm new to Linux, particularly Ubuntu, and I'm trying to customize my desktop with themes to make it look nicer. However, I'm facing issues where the themes aren't applying to all the applications properly and they seem quite buggy. Does anyone have advice or tips on how to successfully use themes in GNOME?

It seems like GNOME has made some changes to theming, and many themes can be a bit broken as a result. If you're really keen on theming, you might want to consider switching to KDE instead. It's more theme-friendly and you could either install it alongside Ubuntu or try out Kubuntu if you want that experience right out of the box.

It's true that GNOME is a bit restrictive when it comes to themes, which can be frustrating. But with the right tools and extensions, you can still achieve a nice look. Don't forget to check for updates on themes, as developers often release fixes when GNOME updates change how things work.

To apply themes correctly, you should use the Gnome Tweaks tool. Once you have that installed, make sure to enable the "User Themes" extension in Tweaks for changing themes. Some great extensions to check out as well are Dash to Dock and Burn My Windows. That should help you get a more polished look! You can even look at some community setups for inspiration!
