I've recently made the switch to Linux and started with Ubuntu, but I found Linux Mint to be more to my liking. I've installed KDE and it's mostly working well, but I want to optimize it further. I've seen differing opinions online about whether it's a good idea to install KDE on top of Cinnamon. Some say that KDE on XFCE is a better option instead. What's the consensus on this?

I'd recommend going with KDE on XFCE instead; it tends to be more stable. Plus, you can easily remove any unnecessary XFCE components later. If you really want the best experience with KDE, consider using a different distribution that supports it fully if that option opens up for you later.
I've personally been using KDE from the Kubuntu repo on Mint with Cinnamon, and it works pretty well! I do prefer KDE over Cinnamon. There are some minor quirks, especially with the 'show in folder' feature from Firefox downloads due to file manager issues, but overall it's fine. Just be aware that my setup is pretty cluttered with multiple desktops, so it might be better on a fresh install.
If you’re looking for a solid KDE experience, you might want to try Fedora KDE. It’s a great choice and has a lot of support for KDE users.
Honestly, just avoid that combo altogether. If you want something similar to Mint but with KDE, Tuxedo is a great alternative. It uses the same Ubuntu LTS base and removes Snaps like Mint does, while providing the latest KDE environment.

That sounds promising! I'm definitely planning to explore more distros down the line. Right now, I'm using Mint as a kind of learning playground since I'm so new to all this.
