I was using Apple Maps to check out some restaurants and clicked on the 'website' tab to view the menu. Instead of going to a restaurant's page, I was redirected to a weird link, and then a pop-up appeared claiming my phone had been hacked. I didn't hit 'cancel' but just closed the app instead. Does this mean my iPhone is compromised? How can I tell for sure? Also, I'm curious—how do hackers manage to make these fake pop-ups look just like the real iPhone alerts, with the cancel button appearing so genuine? Thanks a lot!

Don't stress! It was just a pop-up ad. Your iPhone can't really get 'hacked' just by clicking a link in Apple Maps. You should be fine!
You're definitely not hacked. That pop-up is likely just an ad trying to get you worried. Just stay cautious, and it's a good idea to keep your phone updated to avoid any real threats!
Welcome to the internet! It's pretty common to encounter those kinds of pop-ups. Don't worry; you don't have any infection on your device. Just be careful with what links you click in the future!

Thanks for clarifying! I appreciate it. But how can I be sure I'm not at risk?
