I'm reaching out to see if anyone has solid offsite storage recommendations for Veeam backups. Our VARs are pushing expensive equipment, and we're ready to take control by moving to redundant storage that we own. We're looking for options that are compatible with Veeam for around 450-500 TB usable across two appliances, with room for future expansion, all under $100k USD. We've heard about a few options like Stonefly, PacStorage, and QNAP, plus someone mentioned TrueNAS. Any thoughts on these or other viable alternatives?

I’ve been using Wasabi for a while, and it pairs great with Veeam. Just curious, what made you decide to move away from cloud storage?
Check out Storj's S3 since they’re now Veeam-ready. If AWS S3 pricing is why you’re stepping away from cloud options, Storj might be a worthwhile alternative. In my experience, the backup speeds are mostly limited by your internet connection.
I've had success backing up with Veeam to BackBlaze, which is similar to Wasabi. It's been a reliable choice for us.
TrueNAS would be a great starting point! While I’m not exactly sure about the pricing for such a large setup, iX Systems usually offers good deals. In my experience, we’ve effectively used smaller appliances with Veeam and replicated data using ZFS, which worked out nicely.
I agree! Veeam isn't too picky about storage options. Just make sure the hardware you choose is expandable, as that’s crucial for your needs.
As a Veeam Service Provider, I suggest considering colocating your storage in a data center. You could set up several storage servers—like multiple NAS units or a large SAN—depending on your needs. You can connect via Veeam Cloud Connect or through a site-to-site VPN, which might offer more flexibility.
I definitely recommend Wasabi too!
