Can I Install Linux on My Asus CM14 and Still Play Minecraft?

I recently purchased an Asus CM14 Series laptop with the intention of installing Linux, hoping to bypass some restrictions from my school's web store. However, I'm encountering a lot of issues with both the Gnome and Plasma app stores—they just don't seem to work properly. I've even been told by an AI that it's "impossible" to install Linux on my device, which is discouraging. I haven't found any clear solutions online yet, so I'm reaching out here for help. If it turns out that installing Linux really isn't an option, I'd also like to know if there's any way I can still play Minecraft Java on my laptop.

First off, what distro are you trying to install? If you have both Gnome and Plasma, chances are you might have a dual setup that’s causing some conflicts. It's not impossible to run Linux on your Asus, but you might need to do a bit of troubleshooting. Also, don’t let what the AI said get to you; sometimes they just don’t have all the info. If you're able to wipe the current OS, that might help.

Yeah, it sounds like your school might have put some restrictions on that device, which could complicate the install. But if you can get through these issues, there are plenty of support communities that can guide you through!
