Hey everyone! I'm curious if a 240mm water cooler can adequately cool a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. I'm considering the DeepCool Mystique for my setup. My main use case is casual gaming without any overclocking, so I want to make sure it will be able to handle the heat. Has anyone tried this configuration?

I've got a Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with a Cooler Master ML240L V2 that's about five years old, and I rarely see temperatures go above 70°C, so I think you should be just fine with a 240mm cooler!
Thanks for all the input! Just wanted to be cautious and ensure my setup wouldn’t struggle. I might just stick with the 240mm cooler.
Yep, I think a 240mm cooler will work well. The AMD 7000 and 9000 series CPUs run cooler compared to Intel ones. I've got a thermalright peerless assassin and I don't exceed 70°C even on my 7800X3D, so a water cooler should be a good fit.
I actually use a 120mm cooler with my 9800X3D and my temperatures are great, mostly hovering under 75°C. It rarely hits that, thanks to my semi-aggressive fan curve.
You should definitely check the thermal design power (TDP) rating of your cooler. It's usually listed in the product description. That can give you an idea of its cooling capability.

Nice to know! I've been worried about cooling but hearing your experience gives me some confidence.
