Can I Use DisplayPort Output as Input on a Monitor?

I'm shopping for a new monitor and found one that looks good at a decent price, but its specs only mention "Number of DisplayPort outputs - 1" and there's no mention of inputs. I'm a bit confused and wonder if I can use what's labeled as an output to connect my PC. Is there a difference between outputs and inputs? I know the monitor has an HDMI port, but I'd prefer to use a DisplayPort cable instead. The monitor model is an LG 34" WQHD 120Hz Curved Ultrawide Monitor, specifically model 34U62TB-B.AUS.

No worries, it's understandable to be confused about this when you're new to it all. The LG website confirms that it has one DisplayPort and one HDMI, both of which are inputs. So you can use that DisplayPort on your monitor to connect to your PC without any issues! Happy gaming!

Thanks for confirming! I feel a lot better about my choice now.

It sounds like you've been looking at the specs incorrectly! The DisplayPort output listed is actually referring to the monitor's capability to send a signal out, not to receive one. Since it's a monitor, it definitely has inputs, as those are necessary for it to display anything from your computer. Typically for monitors, the DisplayPort and HDMI mentioned in the specs are both inputs. So, don’t worry; you should be all set to connect your PC using either the HDMI or the DisplayPort! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Exactly! Just to clarify, monitors usually don’t have "output" display ports since they need to receive signals to show images. You should be good to go with a DisplayPort or HDMI connection!
