Can I use remote access software to keep the same public IP while traveling?

I'm looking for solutions to maintain a consistent public IP address while I'm traveling. I know that using a static IP with a VPN for my laptop is one option, but I'm wondering if I can also achieve this by using remote access software (like LogMeIn) to connect to my work computer, which has a static IP. Is this a viable solution?

Nope, remote access software doesn't let you control which IP your ISP assigns to your laptop. So even if you log into your work computer, the public IP you show to the internet will be wherever you're physically working from, not the work computer's static IP.

Got it! So if I need to access a site that checks for my IP address, I would still be blocked since it will see my current location's IP, right?
