Why Do My Pirated Games Run So Slowly on Linux?

I'm using Cachyos with the Nvidia 470xx drivers for my GT 755M GPU, and I've tested it with nvidia-smi and other games. However, when I try to run a pirated Windows game like Clone Drone in the Danger Zone through tools like Lutris or Proton, the FPS is shockingly low—around 10 FPS compared to over 100 FPS on Windows. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, considering it's a pirated game, it's not surprising there could be issues. Just saying!

Do you have any technical reasons for that? Seems a bit dismissive to me.

You might want to try adding your games to Steam. I've noticed that they tend to work better with the Steam version of Proton.

Yeah, for real! It makes a huge difference.

You might also need to look into using a specific version of Proton tailored for your games, as that can enhance performance.

Make sure you've confirmed that the Nvidia drivers are properly installed with nvidia-smi. Also, check if the games are actually utilizing your GPU when running.

It looks like DXVK may not be compatible with your GPU. It requires at least Vulkan 1.3 and a more recent Nvidia driver version, like 550.54.14.
