I'm looking to build a gaming PC with a budget of around $2,000 that can handle 4K resolution or at least run 1440p at maximum settings. I want to base the build around a 5070 Ti, and since there's a Micro Center nearby, I'm hoping to find good deals on components there. If possible, I would prefer to spend less, but I need the system to be capable for both work and gaming purposes.

Sounds like a fun build! Enjoy the process!
You can definitely build a solid system for $2,000 with a 5070 Ti if you plan carefully. Check out Micro Center for their CPU, motherboard, and RAM bundles—they're a great way to save money. I'd recommend pairing it with a 7800X3D or a 7700X CPU, a B650 motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 RAM. Add a fast 2TB NVMe SSD, an 850W Gold PSU, and a case with good airflow. For cooling, go for a decent air cooler or a 240/280 AIO. This setup will easily handle 1440p with max settings and can still manage 4K gaming with some upscaling too!
That’s the exact build I went for, and it came to about $1,900 after tax! I used a 9800X3D, paired with 32GB RAM, a 5070 Ti, a 750W MSI PSU, and a 1TB SSD. I also got a nice $64 water cooler setup and a $69 Montech case. It’s been awesome maxing out all my games at 1440p with ray tracing while getting great performance!

Just to clarify, does it matter which version of the 5070 Ti I choose?
