Hey everyone! I recently had a Windows 10 computer crash, and instead of replacing the power supply, I bought a brand new machine with Windows 11. I'm wondering if I can just transfer my hard drives or SSDs from the old PC to the new one without having to format them. More specifically, will I be able to keep my old Windows 10 installation on the drive? I'm not really experienced with this, so I'd love some guidance.

Yes, you can definitely transfer your drives over to the new Windows 11 PC. Just plug in your old hard drives, and the new system will run off its own drive. Your old Windows 10 install won't interfere with anything. However, keep in mind that while your old games and files will still be there, you'll need to set them up again in your new OS since preferences won't carry over. Just point your game launchers to the old drives once they're connected, and everything should work fine!
Unfortunately, you can't just plug the old hard drive into the new PC and expect everything to work seamlessly. You'll still need to reinstall most of your programs because of the different OS. But, you can connect your old drive purely as a secondary drive, which allows you to easily transfer your documents and other important files over. For some game platforms like Steam, you can copy the game library, and it will recognize the files, saving you some download time!
Okay, but plugging in my old hard drive to my new PC isn’t gonna mess anything up? Like, it won’t uninstall anything or cause issues with my new drive?

Dope. Thank you!
