Can Scammers Perfectly Imitate a Website?

I recently encountered a phishing scam, and I'm concerned about the safety of the site the scammers tried to mimic. For example, imagine a site called fakebook.com that looks just like Facebook. It has the same login page, and after I log in, it seems to display the same content I would see on the real Facebook. The tricky part is that even after logging in, the URL remains fakebook.com and does not redirect me to the actual Facebook site. I'm trying to understand if this type of replication is possible for scammers, how easy it is for them to pull off, and if the security of the site I'm using might be compromised. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, it's definitely possible for scammers to replicate a website very closely. The tricky part is that while they can imitate the appearance and some functionalities, they usually can't access your real personalized content on sites like Facebook because that relies on the legitimate servers. It's all about capturing your login details first and then potentially redirecting you to the real site. You should change your Facebook password immediately and enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.

What if the URL still shows fakebook.com after I log in? Does that change anything?
