Help! My Lenovo Y520’s Graphics Card Isn’t Recognized

I'm having trouble with my Lenovo Y520 laptop. It has Windows installed, but my Nvidia graphics card isn't being detected. I've already tried a bunch of solutions, including scanning in Device Manager, rebooting my PC, uninstalling and reinstalling Windows updates, and updating my BIOS. I even used DDU to remove the old drivers, but every time I try to install the Nvidia graphics driver, it says "no Nvidia GPU detected." The BIOS does show that it recognizes the discrete graphics option. I'm really stuck here—any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?

It sounds like your laptop might be set to only accept Lenovo's drivers, not Nvidia's. Have you tried using Lenovo Vantage from the Windows Store? It might help with the driver installation.

I did try Vantage as well, but it didn't work.

Check if the graphics card shows up under Display Adapters in Device Manager. Just because the BIOS has an option for Discrete Graphics doesn't mean it’s being detected correctly—sometimes it’s just a preset option there.

That makes sense. It's set to discrete mode, but I get what you're saying.

If you've already done a clean install of Windows and it still doesn't work, it could indicate that your 1050 GPU is toast. Sometimes you won’t see any error messages, but it can still be a hardware issue.

I don’t understand; I didn't get any error messages and hardware diagnostic tools aren’t showing anything.
