Is Copilot Slowing Down My Windows 10 Laptop?

I recently got an Inspiron 14 laptop about six months ago, and it's been running really slowly and lagging these past two weeks. The fans are constantly running even though I'm only using a few tabs on Edge for things like Outlook and YouTube, nothing too taxing. I came across an article suggesting that Copilot might slow down copy and pasting in Microsoft Word, so I'm wondering if it could be affecting my laptop's performance in general. I've checked for updates but there's nothing new available, and I've already restarted and cleared my downloads multiple times.

Definitely check your task manager! It shows which processes are hogging your CPU and RAM. That way, you can figure out what's causing the slowdown.

Just a heads up, since Windows 10 isn't supported anymore, you might want to consider switching to Linux or upgrading to Windows 11. It could help improve performance.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve been reluctant to upgrade, but it might be worth it.

Honestly, just using the computer can lead to slowdowns—anything running in the background could be the problem. Even if it seems like nothing's open, check that nothing's eating resources.
