Hey everyone, I'm 24 years old and from Turkey, and I have a keen interest in programming languages like Lisp, Python, Luau, and C. I'm aiming to create games in Roblox to earn some money, and I know Python is essential for building general skills. I also want to develop my own Linux distro based on Gentoo. However, I've been struggling with math—sometimes I feel like it's holding me back. How important is math in programming, and is it possible for me to improve my mathematical skills? Thanks in advance!

Math isn't crucial for most programming tasks, but it does help. If you really want to improve, you can definitely do it with practice! Also, consider online resources like Khan Academy; they have some great math tutorials.

You can definitely get by without much math for simple programming tasks. Sure, having some math knowledge can help, especially if you’re working on complex projects or games, but it’s not a deal-breaker. Just focus on gaining practical skills first.

The type of math you need really depends on what you want to do. Some programming areas only require basic algebra and logic, while others might demand more advanced skills. If you’re feeling uncertain about your math background, maybe start by brushing up on algebra first?

Programming and mathematics actually share a lot of similarities. If you can write code, your math skills might just need a bit of refreshing rather than being fundamentally flawed. I'd recommend diving into the concepts you feel are tricky instead of avoiding math altogether.

I’m currently tackling mathematical proofs to better grasp the logic behind programming. It has helped me a lot! I’m using a book called 'A Programmer’s Introduction to Mathematics' which explains proofs with examples from a programming perspective. It could be a good resource for you!
