I'm currently using a 600W 80+ Gold PSU with my Ryzen 9600X and RTX 3090, but a moderator on a tech forum seriously warned me about the power demands of my setup. Apparently, the RTX 3000 series can have high transient load spikes, and it's advisable to overprovision when selecting a PSU. Some folks said that for a system with an RTX 3080, a PSU between 1KW and 1.2KW is recommended, and given that the 3090 is even more demanding, I'm wondering if my current PSU will cut it or if I really need to jump to a 1.5KW unit. I'd love to get opinions from others who've dealt with similar setups!

Honestly, you can get by with a lot less power. For just gaming, the system probably peaks around 550-600 watts. Adding some overhead, a good 750W PSU would be sufficient. You can save the extra cash for upgrades down the road!
You’re probably fine with a good 750W or 850W PSU. That should be enough for your setup without going overboard. Just make sure it’s from a reputable brand.
I wouldn’t recommend going lower than 1KW, but 1.5KW feels excessive. A solid 850W should be more than capable of keeping your system running smoothly.
A good 850W to 1000W PSU will handle your setup just fine. I have an 850W with an RTX 3080 and it works great, giving me that extra room for more heat and peak loads, and I haven't had any issues at all!
1.5KW is a massive overkill! Typically, for a 3090, you'd want something between 750W and 1000W. I run my 3090 with a 750W PSU, and it works perfectly fine. If you're concerned about future-proofing, consider an 850W or 1000W, but 1.5KW is just too much for your setup.

750W might be pushing it a bit, I'd personally go for 850W to have a little breathing room.
